My key take aways from Cocréa are the power of listening, invitation (consent tools), conversational dance, and EMBODIED dance.

I’ll never forget when we first met and danced for hours. That one experience helped heal a lot of brotherhood wounds and I never felt that safe being held by a man.

You are a wizard! You make incredible magic happen between people (individuals and groups). You have x-ray vision right into the heart of what’s needed and then you offer the exact medicine for whatever that thing is and the medicine you share is playful, juicy and sweet, so it’s a joy to receive.

IMMERSE IN SOMATIC PRESENCE

Harness the power of your authentic presence! Learn partner dance skills that amplify attunement, unify mind, body, heart and spirit, and powerfully transform relationships.

This dynamic practice emphasizes connection, communication and presence between two people within a community of others and is designed to be used on any dance floor life may offer! Allowing intuition and feeling to guide the partnership, your body’s strength and clarity to support it, Cocréa celebrates our ability to embody profound joy through being in a body moving in harmony with another.

Weaving the threads of mindfulness, somatics and cultural depth and technique from lineages of social partner dance such as Blues, Salsa and Tango, the practice focuses on inviting, allowing, acclimating and relaxing into ever deepening levels of listening and attuned play.

Facilitator Wren LaFeet masterfully crafts containers imbued with trust and permission empowering dancers to enter into flow state within a safer, brave space. Fortified by intimacy practices and luscious soundtracks, Cocréa has been called “the next evolution of conscious dance” by numerous participants over its 14 years of existence.

FRIDAY NIGHT DETAILS

Cocréa: An Attunement Primer for Epic Dance Floor Connection

Is partner dancing an edge for you? Does it make you uncomfortable asking someone to dance? Is the intimacy of dancing closely with someone sometimes overwhelming? You are not alone. Being close to someone is vulnerable, let alone dancing with them! It’s totally normal to feel out of your comfort zone in partner dance, AND it gets easier and deeply satisfying!

After 25 years of experience dancing with others and facilitating countless individuals to move through the discomfort, Wren has distilled a proven, science backed technique for helping people break free into the joy of connected dance.

The Cocréa experience is the perfect place to lean into your edge and gently broaden your comfort zone. You will be in a tight container with other brave humans that encourage and support you in exploring the spectrum of experience that dancing in presence with others offers. Wren places a strong emphasis on structure and containment, and offers clear technique for embodied listening and communication through movement.

Come for the class, stay for the dance party! Wren has been rocking dance floors from Canada to Central America to Europe since 2012. He brings a diverse sound rooted in groove and danceability. Be prepared for a saucy, sexy vibe infused with heaps of playfulness and an open invitation to lead with the heart.

Friday and Saturday are stand alone events, however Saturday’s Intensive will be made all the juicier if you attend both. 😉

No partner necessary! All levels welcome!

WHY ALL LEVELS?
a Note from the Facilitator

“Dancing since I was 15, I can confidently say I learn something new about myself, my dance, or just movement in general every time I dance with someone regardless of how skilled they are. To me, this is the point of this practice. To raise awareness, to be with the difference, and to grow through it. Fun is available. Sexiness and pleasure are on the menu. And, I believe the more I can open to difference, the more I recognize: we’re really so similar. And that’s an encouraging thought. The closer I journey towards that, the more easily I experience myself embodying real intimacy, peace and freedom.

“Though no partner is necessary as everyone will be invited to dance with each other, this practice is highly encouraged for couples. I can confidently promise, your relationship WILL receive far reaching benefits.”

Wren is celebrating the exquisite privilege of getting to dance in partnership for almost 25 years and loves serving humanity as a somatic permissionary. Teaching partner dance internationally as a practice for mindful, authentic living, and enlivening communities by facilitating his signature modality, Cocréa, has been his joy for over a decade. Wren guides humans curious about embodiment towards right relationship by exploring the realms of Self, Earth, Music, Sacred Other, Community and Whole through listening and responding, and inviting, allowing and embracing change. He is a celebrated TEDx speaker, featured author in “ReInhabiting the Village” and ardent proponent of pioneering a new renaissance through authentic connection and consensual touch.

Wren is an able bodied white male residing in Awaswas Ohlone territory (Santa Cruz, CA). As a non-binary identified, 11th generation American descended most recently from artist and blue collar working class parents, Wren is in a deep reckoning with the numerous and nuanced aspects of self that influence how we navigate interpersonal relationships and cultural identity on the journey into right relationship.

Wren promotes dance as an embodied approach to spirituality that spans the chasm between false refuge and celebration through surrender, and as medicinal salve for our modern ailments of disconnection and dislocation.
